Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport played either individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a lightweight, felt-covered rubber ball over a net into the opponent’s court in such a way that the opponent is unable to return it. The game is played on a rectangular court, which is divided in half by a net, and can be made of various surfaces, including grass, clay, or hard materials.

Players use a racquet to strike the ball, and the game involves a sequence of serves and rallies. Points are scored when the opponent fails to return the ball within the designated court boundaries. The sport is governed by a set of rules established by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Tennis is also known for its major tournaments, including the four Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. It combines physical fitness, strategy, and skill, making it a popular sport worldwide, both recreationally and professionally.
